Tour the House

One of the oldest Victorian farmhouses in Southern Oregon and eligible for the historic register, the Klippel House has been home to only four families in its 160-year history.
Built for Henry Klippel, one of the three prospectors credited with the 1853 "discovery" of Crater Lake, the residence offers four spacious bedrooms and 3.5 baths, including a ground floor primary suite with walk-in closet, and an additional bedroom and half bath in its charming detached Arts & Crafts guesthouse. Airy 10-foot ceilings, two covered porches, and custom woodwork and cabinetry showcase the home’s scale and craftsmanship.
The house was lovingly restored by respected local preservationist Roger Whipple in the 1990s. Original fixtures were retained, and genuine period pieces were sourced by Whipple when needed. The house boasts its original hardwood floors, six-over-six paned windows, antique brass gasolier light fixtures, and functioning brick fireplace in
the parlor. A new cedar shake roof was completed in 2025 and the primary bath was renovated in 2026. The house is set on a .27-acre corner lot shaded by mature trees, and is located mere blocks from Jacksonville’s celebrated shops and restaurants.
Whipple also built an 1050+ sq. ft., two-story guesthouse with full kitchen, bath, private entrance, and dedicated parking—ideal for guests, multigenerational living, or rental income. A detached two-car garage with finished workroom offers additional versatility. These three structures encompass nearly 3,000 usable square feet.
The Beekman hiking trail is one block west; the historic courthouse (now museum) is one block north; Jacksonville Elementary is five blocks east; on a summer night, music from the Britt Festival drifts down on the breeze. Rich in provenance and thoughtfully updated, the Klippel House offers a once-in-a-generation chance to become the next steward of one of Historic Jacksonville’s enduring treasures.
